President’s Highlights August, 2026

We’ve had a busy summer!

Pam and her husband Mike moved our storage to a new location. We have a lot of room for MORE FABRIC!! We are now taking donations of fashion and quilting fabric as well as working sewing machines, sewing tools and accessories.

To help us fill the unit, we ask for the next two months at each neighborhood group meeting you attend, please bring a loved piece of fabric you know will inspire someone else in their sewing creativity.

Our next Four Seasons Farmers Market sale is Saturday, October 3.

We had so much fun learning the basics for quilting this summer. Each one of us made a lovely quilted wall hanging. I know mine will be on my wall soon!

On August 21 at the Plano Sewing Center, Cathey Jordan, will guide you thru making the Catalina Sling Bag, designed by Pink Sand Beach Designs. Kathey joined ASG in 1994 and has learned so much from being a member. She started quilting several years ago and then discovered bag making. It has become an obsession.

Member signup is July 31st – Aug 15, for $20. Non member signup is $50 and is open from August 7th – August 15th. You may refer to the notification sent out on July 31st, or Click on link: Plano ASG Bag Making Workshop Signup

You will need to bring your own pattern, machine and supplies listed on the pattern. Please make sure you choose the correct designer/company to order your pattern, as there are other Catalina Sling bags on the market.

The umbrella making workshop led by Roxanne Carder and Tammy Moberg is still scheduled for September 26. You will have a chance to creative your own custom umbrella. Sign-ups will be in early September.

We are expanding the All Things Beads neighborhood group to ALL THINGS BY HAND. Do you like embroidery, crocheting, knitting, jewelry making, any kind of hand work?

Join these lovely ladies every first Thursday at Renner Frankford Library in North Dallas. Time to occupy your hands while socializing. And if you are having a problem with a project, these ladies love to help!

We’re Sew Special spent time this summer to make curtains for First Baptist Church, McKinney. Well, done, Ladies!

Trying all kinds of new things at Material Girls. This is a great place to try things you would never try on your own! Pam set up a great space for us to ecodye cotton and silk fabrics this July.

Designing Divas spent a wonderful Tuesday at Neiman Marcus exploring the creations of high-end fashion designers then lunch at NM Cafe. Everyone realized, “We can make that!”
