IT TAKES A BIONIC BRAIN TO MAKE A BIONIC BAG

10 Plano Chapter ASG members signed up for a day class at the Best Little Retreat Center in Dallas.  We all wanted guidance to make the Bionic Bag…the instructions on Craftsy are 84 pages long!  And there’s a video that the creator keeps on referring the sewer to.  She goes on and on, actually not making much sense.  That’s why this day class sounded like a great opportunity to learn from people who have successfully waded through the pattern.

Lori, Jeanne and Diana were there to guide us through all the steps.  Lots of sewing and ripping and resewing and ripping and resewing all day long.  For some reason several of us thought the class was 10-2 but it turns out the Center is open from 9-9 and the three “experts” were going to be there all day!  In the end it took about 7 hours with a stop for lunch to “almost” complete the bag.  There went my high hopes of making a half dozen to hand out for Christmas gifts.  But at least I have mine!

  1. A group of us worked on this bag last June with the Luv 2 Sew neighborhood group. Cathey led the class. Without her help, I would have never completed it! The pattern instructions made the process a lot more complicated than necessary.

I found some step-by-step videos that helped me get through a second bag. The creator of those videos deleted them from her site a few months ago, but said we could download the videos before she removed them. If anyone plans to make this bag again and wants to borrow the video CD, please let me know.
