Community Sew

by Marie Barrese

They say it takes a village and here’s an example of that…

The Community Sew group meets once a month (most months) on the first Friday at the Richardson Senior Center on Arapaho from 9AM to Noon.   And they made an exception in August allowing Debby Bowles granddaughters, Reagan and Beasley to attend along with Kelli Robertson’s daughter.

Children’s Health in Plano requested bags, pillowcases and G-tube covers all in children’s prints to make their stay a little brighter.  These ladies take their work seriously and enjoy making items they are proud to donate.  Jane made the G-tube covers using her embroidery machine, 6 at a time!  The young girls helped put the snaps on, sewed bags and strung the ribbon through to complete them.

And here is what will be brought to Children’s Health on the 15th of September.

20 drawstring bags for procedure demos, 9 pillowcases and 85 G-tube covers.

ASG will pay for a yearly membership at the Richardson Senior Center if you plan on coming to at least 6 of the 10 meetings.   Volunteers are always welcome and needed.  If interested, please contact Jane at  communitysew@planoasgsews.org
