DAFA February 22 program SHIBORI!, March workshops with Marinda Stewart

Invitation  from Plano ASG and Dallas Area Fiber Artist member Lu Peters
DAFA feb workshop
Hi All,

I thought that the ASG membership would be interested in attending the February program presented by Lisa Covert, who attended the Decadence show with me.

Lisa is an accomplished Shibori dye artist, felt maker, and bookbinder ( among other things!). She teaches and sells at the Craft Guild of Dallas, where she was recently Guild president. Her lecture will be about the challenges and rewards in making Fluid Currents, a large, multi-piece, fiber installation (pictured above) for the December Plano Art Association Contexture: Fiber and Fabric exhibition.
The program is February 22nd at C.C. Young Retirement Community at 6:45PM. Please visit the DAFA website for further details. www.dallasfiberartists.org.

Workshops with Marinda Stewart

Additionally, DAFA will be hosting nationally known teacher Marinda Stewart, a 13 time Fairfield Fashion show participant, writer, and wearable artist. Marinda will be teaching Russian Punchneedle and beaded embroidery techniques.

March 19: beautiful punchneedle artwork ( kit $18)
March 20: Embroidered Beaded Heart pendant and pin ($15 kit)
10-4 at The Point, 4847 W Lawther Drive
Members $50/day, non-members $65/day

Her accomplishments include a line of patterns, countless magazine and book contributions, television appearances, national ads, several embellishment books and videos, and numerous museum and gallery exhibitions. Her work is featured in the art collections of corporations, and in the homes of celebrities.

Currently Marinda works with corporate clients designing and consulting on end-users for their product lines.

Please pass along this information to anyone else you that you think might be interested in attending.  We love to share creative events!
