Haute Couture Fashion Designer Kenneth King to Visit Dallas

Designer teaches couture sewing techniques to local sewing guild chapter

[Dallas, Texas, June 2019 —] Legendary fashion designer Kenneth King will be in teaching a three day sewing workshop from September 19-21 at the Best Little Retreat Center in Dallas, Texas for the Plano Chapter of the American Sewing Guild (ASG).

Kenneth D. King is a New York-based, haute couturier, who specializes in evening wear.  Along with his private clientele, he has sold to boutiques across the country such as Maxfield in Los Angeles, Wilkes Bashford in San Francisco, and Ultimo in Chicago, San Francisco, and Dallas.  His work has appeared in music videos, television commercials, and on the red carpet for the Oscars.   Kenneth’s work has been exhibited in 2005,  at the San Francisco Legion of Honor Museum; his work is also in the permanent collections of the De Young Museum in San Francisco, the L.A. County Museum of Art, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

King will be teaching advanced garment sewing techniques related to fit and style to ASG guild members.  Due to his popularity, all spots have already been reserved well in advance.  The eager attendees will learn how to create a moulage to match their figure, convert it to a finished sloper, and draft sleeves.

This event will be the second workshop in 2019 that King has brought to the Plano Chapter of ASG.   In March, he taught a sold-out couture technique workshop that was well received by members.  First Vice-President, Nisha Williams – Smith, was impressed.  She remembers him this way: “Kenneth King is known as one of the best teachers in the business. From sitting in a classroom with him, one can understand why. He’s a doer, engaging, and an amazing storyteller.”   Photos from the event are available on our website at www.planoasgsews.org.
