ASGConf16_logo-160pxAs your chapter President, I attended the 2016 national conference.  The first evening and 2nd day of the conference have separate track for Presidents or their delegates.  Thursday was the annual meeting of the corporate members.   Chapter awards were as follows:  Newsletter: Houston  Website: Indianapolis         Chapter Growth:  West Oakland Michigan .    The election of the Board of Directors resulted in two new directors,  Joi Bostic and Jacki Cruz.

A new benefit to members was announced.  The online school University of Fashion , will be offered to guild members for a price of $50.00 for one year, the regular yearly price is $149.00.  There will be more information as this benefit is rolled out to all members in the next few months.  In the meantime, you can go to the site and register as a free member to explore the instructional information available on the site.

It was also announced by the end of July, national will roll out an updated website.

Remember, as a member you can visit any chapter across the country, you can also read any chapter’s newsletter.  All current issues of each chapter’s newsletter are posted on www.asg.org.

Helen Roos, past national board member, past chapter president of Maryland received special recognition of her years of service to ASG.

The luncheon keynote speaker was Lindy Przybyszewki author of “The Lost Art of the Dress”  She was a very entertaining speaker, and we all enjoyed her photo presentation of beautiful, classic dressing through the decades.

I can’t wait to share with you, our members, all of the sewing and fashion design knowledge I received during this conference.

Markita Hall-Gumble
