It’s that time again….. Time to celebrate all we have experienced together as a chapter in the past year and look forward to all we hope to accomplish together in 2016. In keeping with the idea of celebration, we will be enjoying a theatrical theme this year.
All The World’s a Stage!
Come enjoy a peek backstage as we hear two costume designers surprise us with tales of sewing that lead to flying footwear, putting bloodstains into fabric rather than taking them out, and running from a restaurant to repair zippers. Costume design for the theater is one of the most challenging and rewarding ways to apply sewing skills. As an added bonus, there is often as much drama in a costume shop as there is on the stage! Veteran and award-winning costume designer Tory Padden and her sometimes sidekick Barbara Kirksey will discuss costume design for the stage and share a slide portfolio of their individual and collaborative work at various theaters around the Metroplex.
Does this get you longing to wear that costume you made long ago or last year or want to make? Well, feel free to come dressed for the stage! You can help us light up the room with the excitement of an opening night! Or come dressed as a theater patron – no costume required! Just come ready to enjoy the time with old and new sewing friends and enjoy browsing through the costumes we will have on display to create that exciting theatrical feel.
Menu for the luncheon includes: Salad, Grilled Chicken Breast with Marsala Sauce, Red Skin Mashed Potatoes, Skillet Vegetables and Dessert. Luncheon held at Glen Eagles Country Club 5401 W Park Blvd, Plano, TX, United States.
